The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV – previously known as OLEV)  is a government organisation supporting and funding the early market for electric vehicles to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution on UK roads.

Electric vehicles are a crucial step to decarbonising our transport system and reducing air pollution through zero tailpipe emissions. The government recognises that many people will want to charge their electric vehicles at home, in the workplace as well as public chargepoints and have designed grant schemes to encourage the expansion of charging capacity across the UK.

There are currently two schemes in operation – the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and the Workplace Charging Scheme.  To qualify for a grant the installation work needs to be undertaken by an OZEV Authorised Installer like Benchmark.   View List

The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is a grant that provides a 75% contribution to the cost of one chargepoint and its installation. A grant cap is set at £350 (including VAT) per installation. The main requirement is that a person owns, leases, or has ordered a qualifying vehicle and has dedicated off-street parking at their property. A person may apply for 2 chargepoints at the same property if they have 2 qualifying vehicles.  Under the Workplace Charging Scheme the business may apply for up to 40 charge points,  a maximum grant of £14,000.

In order to be an Authorised Ozev installer Benchmark has demonstrated :

• Proof of membership of an Electrician Association
• Proof of public liability insurance
• Proof that installers have been trained to install electric vehicle chargepoints
• Proof that they are an approved installer by the chargepoint manufacturer
